Here's a link to the Annexation "Services" Plan which also includes maps. Doesn't look like they'll be providing any services that are not already taken care of -- at the cost of high taxes!
ReplyDeleteIt is worth it to fight the City over this!

Wow! That's quite enlightening. If I'm reading that correctly...
ReplyDeleteCapital Expenditures will cost the city:
$272,478 for the Royal Pines area
$635,777 for Police and Solid Waste
$908,255 Total
Revenue from Royal Pines:
$770,250 (not sure if this is annually)
Expenses the city will incur for Royal Pines:
$187,857 per year
(includes one police officer's salary, and 4 new salaries for leaf and trash pickup, I believe)
I have recently moved into the area from Calif and can not figure out what the benefit will be to us in this area for annexation. As it appears, the city (Asheville) does not do anything in the way of weed abatement, graffiti removal, roads, etc. I can't see paying more taxes to get the same or less services. The conditions in the area are very lacking and there is no one to turn to in city hall who cares. Just look around and see the neglect, what a shame.
